Les Deux Sabots is a traditional, three storey cottage in Normandy stone, perfect for a romantic holiday in Normandy. Detached, it has its own small, secluded garden, covered and driveway parking , barbecue and a little vino veranda for your evening aperitif or morning coffee. We find the cottage comfortable and spacious for two; but there’s room for more if needed.

Les Deux Sabots is named after the clogs local farm workers wore in years gone by (there’s a miniature pair nailed to the door as a reminder of past residents …!).  It’s one of just four houses on this quiet lane, which has no through traffic. Breath-taking walks and established ramblers’ routes start just outside the door.

Come inside…! The wooden steps at the front of the house take you up to the veranda, and the front door. You’ll find the beamed, full height, sitting/dining room decorated tastefully in neutral shades with beautiful cushions, throws and rugs. There’s a large log fire, candles all ready to light, and two radiators for extra cosiness in cooler weather. As well as the cream, two seater sofa, there’s a large, L shaped sofa which converts into a good sized double bed if extra or separate sleeping space is required. This part of the room can be screened off, if needed.

There’s a gate legged dining table, television with English and French channels, DVD player, PS2, CD/radio player and a good selection of CDs, books, maps, local travel guides and DVDs to dip into. The shuttered window opens out on to views of gardens and apple orchards. The sitting/dining room has two sets of stairs leading from it; one up, one down, both wooden, steep and open.

Going up…to the top floor you’ll find the large, bright bedroom (double bed, bedside tables with lamps, wardrobe, chest of drawers, radiator) with a separate futon to read your book in the lovely, sunny reading area. The Velux window shares those field and apple orchard views.

Going down…..The stairs leading down from the sitting /dining room take you into the beamed kitchen . A table here offers another space to eat; and you’ll find the usual range of kitchen units and drawers, cooker, fridge, microwave, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, plus a radiator. From the utility area is the door to the small shower/WC room, also cosy with its own radiator. Please bear in mind that head height on this floor is lower than the rest of the house because of the beams.

Going out…..On this level of the house there’s another ‘front’ door into a tiny gravelled area where we also sometimes sit and say bonjour to any passing ramblers!

The small but private lawned garden is at one side of the house, with stone barbecue. There is a gravelled parking area alongside the garden, with double gates on to the lane. Under the stone steps you’ll find a barbecue and garden seats. On the other side of the house is a covered parking area with another washing line; and it also contains the log store.

The neighbours are friendly and helpful, with many managing to be self-sufficient in eggs, poultry, fruit and veg all year round….the sound of chickens, geese and turkeys is part of French country life!

Perfect for a Romantic Holiday in Normandy…

Staying at Les Deux Sabots cottage gives you the chance to do as much–or as little–as you choose. Walks, wine, or Paris by nine. We know that not everyone wants a seven day break starting on a Saturday, and that travel costs can sometimes be cheaper mid week, so throw some dates and durations our way, and we’ll try to help.

Please note that bedding is provided, but we would be grateful if you could bring your own towels and tea towels.

The cottage will be cleaned before you arrive, and we would appreciate it if you would leave it similarly clean and tidy, including moving any furniture back to its original position!
